Program Description
We offer cheerleading classes for athletes age 3 to 12 years old. Preschool classes meet once a week for 45 minutes and are for 3 to 5 year olds. Recreational cheerleading classes meet for one hour, once per week and are for 5 to 12 year olds. Designed for the novice and intermediate cheerleader, all classes focus on motions, jump execution, tumbling skills, voice, cheer presentation, routine memorization, and working with poms. Each class will also practice stunting, including flier positions and basing techniques. Classes will practice cheer and chant routines to perfect motions, cheer formations, and movements within cheer formations. Athletes will learn to tumble and stunt to counts, as well as move through routines to counts. All classes will work on strength and flexibility techniques in order to progress and excel in the sport of cheerleading. Athletes will learn crowd involvement techniques, safety cues, and spotting. Our class ratio for a preschool class is 5:1 and for our school age classes it is 8:1.
We will evaluate students twice per year to communicate progress with parents, and athletes receive ribbon awards & their completed skill sheet to take home for display. Also, in May of each year, we will celebrate each athlete and their progress during a performance held at our gym. Classes will begin to practice cheer routines during March and continue until the performance, where athlete will be allowed to show off for parents, family and friends. Each athlete that performs during our end of the year show will receive a trophy listing their name, event date, and current level! We love to reward our athletes for their accomplishments!
